The Gauhati University established in January 26th 1948 under the Act of State Legislature, the Gauhati University Act in the year 1947. Initially Gauhati University had only 17 numbers of limited affiliated colleges which have now increased upto 239 and changed as a well established university with 239 affiliated colleges. The Gauhati University was established with the motive of Achievement from learning English. This university is very ancient and first university of north east India which is located in Gauhati, Assam State. This university is situated in the small town named as Gopinath Bardoloi Nagar.
